My life in pictures

I saw a blog post a few weeks ago at Ilja's blog where she shared her life in twitpics. I thought it was such a lovely idea to use in my blog so you get to know me a bit better. I make snap shots with my iPhone all the time about all kinds of things: food, fashion, my crazy cats or simply as a reminder. Most of them I share on Twitter. Hope you enjoy them!

Insalata di caprese. It's my family's favourite salad!

The dress I bought at the Plussize Fair in Eindhoven.
Had to fight to get it since it was the last one!!
I promise to make some proper outfit shots with it.

DIY earring which I made of fake flowers.

Shirt by H&M BiB which you can see in an outfit post here.

I was cleaning out my closets and I found these cuties.
I forgot all about them!

Finished and organised closet. I like to keep things colour coördinated. This way I can see when I buy to many black things ;-)

I downloaded an app on my iPhone where I can rework my pictures, here I used an old picture effect.

Wisdom in a cup of cappucino.

Table decoration for a dinner party. The theme was Marocco.
Couscous time!!

Meet James, my cute little crazy cat.

And finally my new glasses arrived. What do you think?

Love Els x

Outfit of the day: Springblossom

This saturday I came across these beautiful blossom trees in the most gorgeous color pink. I had to make some outfit shots there, it was a perfect match for my new H&M shirt. My daughter shot the photo's and we had a big laugh over the chickens who were strolling through the park... they are so funny! They walk across the street with no fear at all and all the cars are honking at them to move a bit faster but they seem to have all the time in the world ;-)

Covergirl Adèle

Wow! How gorgeous is Adèle on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine? Although I love her hair in a tale, I think this loose hair looks just awesome on her. And that perfect eyeliner...

Anyway, this is what she says in interview about her curves:

“My life is full of drama and I won’t have time to worry about something as petty as what I look like,” she tells Rolling Stone contributing editor Touré. “I don’t like going to the gym. I like eating fine foods and drinking nice wine. Even if I had a really good figure, I don’t think I’d get my tits and ass out for no one.”

Well, aint she right about that? What do you say?

Outfit of the day: Out of the box

Look what I found in the childrens costume box the other day:
a dress with a gorgeous nude colour palette I'm totally into these days! I totally forgot all about it. And to continue my treasure hunt I found this vintage coin neckless which was lying around for years in my mom's juwelery box.
It's a dutch 'rijksdaalder' with queen Juliana on one side and the weapon of the Netherlands on the other.
I love love love it!

Oh, and don't you like those dandelions growing against my photo wall? It's springtime!

Layla Kühnen for Adèle

So here it is! The dress Layla Kühnen made for Adèle and gave it to her this friday. It's a silk and wool pied de poule fabric which is degraded to a darker colour at the end, a technique Layla Kühnen masters very well and is typical for her designs.

We just have to wait and see if Adèle is going to wear it, but when she does you can read all about it here in the blog.

Into the nude

Yesterday I clicked these babies home. I'm really into these nude colours these days. Hope they arrive soon because the weather is super in Holland right now. In the meantime I can make my feet summer ready!

Earlier this week I bought a shirt at H&M from the BiB line
(I know I wasn't supposed to be there in the first place, but hey,
I simply couldn't resist). It's a bit of and old pinky colour and it suits my skintone very well. When I got home the new Marie Claire arrived and I noticed it suited my new shirt as well!

So wat did you guys buy lately?

Meet Layla Kühnen: High Fashion Plus Size designer

Layla Kühnen is Hollands first high fashion plus Size designer. When she studied at the Royal Academy for the Arts in The Hague she noticed that there was no high fashion label in Holland for curvy woman. Being a curvy girl herself she decided to begin her own high fashion label for plus size woman. The pictures above are a sneak preview of her summer collection 2012 (by the name of “Indulging release”) and I must say I’m really excited to see more of it! She uses luxurious and flowy fabrics, gorgeous color palettes and makes her pieces with an eye for detail.

Pictures below: Being a designer myself I really love the story behind a design. What was the inspiration? The collection she made for her graduation project was inspired by Marie-Antoinette. What if she still existed? How would the clothes and fabrics look like? She reworked te fabrics in such a way that you still can see how rich and impressive they once were. What’s very characteristic about Layla is that she uses silk jersey and satin and dies them in pale colors. The velvet she airbrushes with bleech, that’s how she makes the gradients.

In january Layla won a contest on the radio where she had the chance to interview her style icon Adèle. In that interview she offered to make a dress for Adèle and this friday, at her concert in Paradiso in Amsterdam, Layla can present this to Adèle. How cool is that? You can follow it on http://www.laylakuhnen.livejournal.com

Hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do and I hope I can tell you more about her collection some time soon.
