Carmakoma CFW14 show

I just couldn't hold this back, I think this Carmakoma statement was just awesome so I had to show you. I love Carmakoma's designs, lots of black and white and leather, a bit of a rockchick style. I think they are really fashion forward and a brand to look up to.
It's a pity I missed this show, I arrived a day later in Kopenhagen. So maybe next time?

Outfit > 21.02.2014 The leather t-shirt dress

In my last post I told you I was putting back some black into my closet. This was the next black thing that I wanted so bad. The leather dress (yes, it's a dress!). I loved the leather skirt on this but wasn't sure about the t-shirt part. But I like it... for now at least. Maybe in the future I'll cut off the shirt so I can mix and match it with other tops. On the other hand it's so easy, throw this on and you're good to go. Let's just wait and see what I will do with it. The leather of the skirt is soft but not too soft to just hang there. It gives just a little flare to shape it the way I like it. Next thing on my wish list is a blazer. The perfect one!

Tell me, do you have a wish list, and what's on it?

Enjoy your weekend! Love Els x

Plusmodel for a day... guestblog by photographer Yvonne van Dalen

A few months ago I started Plusmodel for a day with photographer Yvonne van Dalen and make-up artist Micky Jooren. We give workshops in modeling, make-up and of course styling. And you get your picture taken at the end of the workshop. We noticed that some of you have some insecurities to have your picture taken. Yvonne wanted to put it to the test and so she went through a make-over and took her own pictures... it's in dutch but the pictures will tell the story as well. Isn't she vavavoom...? Wow!

Yvonne vampy in rood

VaVaVoom, eh, Vonne... ;-)

Outfit > 14.02.2014 Obi wan kenobi

I think a happy dance is in order here ;) As soon as I saw this obi-belt midi-dress dress pop-up on Asos my hart started pounding very very fast. Little hearts started popping out of my ears... Love! But when it dropped on my doormat this week and I unpacked it, well, let's just say it was a little disappointment to take out a completely crinkled piece of coral cloth. Meeh.. :( But after a little reanimation with the flatiron and a proper fitting the hearts started to plop again. Yeah! It's also available in black and I was thinking to order that one as well, but no... black just isn't my thing and I learned from the past that it simply doesn't work. It's just not the same.
Oh and let me tell you about these leather pants (Yeah! Real leather!) from Junarose (officially called leggings). The leather is really soft and the stretchy fabric on the side helps fitting your curves the right way. The only thing was that I have a very curvy bum and a back that's curved as well so I had to take the back in a little bit. Now it fits me perfectly and I've worn it quite a few times. It just spices up my outfits the rockchick way (and I love that!).
So now that I'm totally in love with this outfit I might as well celebrate Valentine's day with it :)

Hope you have a lovely Valentine's day!

Love Els x

Making a statement

A statement photo by Granddiva Magazine  in response to an article in dutch newspaper 'De Volkskrant'  two weeks ago (read it here, it's in dutch). They published a photo of plussize models and the heading said: The fatter Doutzens'. You can imagine the comments on that heading: a lot of people commented that those models are not fat ('If they are fat, what am I'?). No they are not fat, they are plusmodels who happen to be normal in de real world and fat in the fashion world. End of discussion I think. Although I don't like the heading (bad choice of words), I do like the picture very much. Gorgeous women. Same goes for this one. Beautiful woman who deserve to be noticed. Let's all be a bit more aware of the fact that there are simply all kinds of people on this planet and what would it be great to tolerate oneanother no matter your size, skincolor or religion. The photo above would have been even better if a dark model was in it as well. Just saying' :) Great job to the brave women in this photo. Love it!

That's all for now, peace on earth ;)

Love Els x

Oh and here's the photo that was published in The Volkskrant.

Greatest Fashion Fair in Amsterdam

Me, Nancy Herkul of Curvezz, Hermina from Wondervol.nl and
Mouna from the blog Brussels Fatsion

Monday I attended the Greatest Fashion Fair in the World Fashion Centre in Amsterdam. Just to see what new things to expect the coming season and spot some trends. I had a date :) with the ever lovely Hermina from Wondervol and Mouna from Brussels Fatsion. Nancy from Curvezz also popped in to say hello and to talk to us about her brand new label Curvezz. More on that in another post!
Well, I must say I was a bit disappointed by the brands that were represented, lots of layered big curve covering stuff but happily for me Junarose was there to spice things up along with Veto and Triangle by S. Oliver. I was surprised by the dutch brand 'Goodies by Tamara' . It's a fast fashion label so they can jump on trends whenever they want and it's totally produced in The Netherlands as well. Lot's of cosy stuff but also dressed up very wearable. I loved their jogging pants with the smoking stripe. Just scroll down below to see what caught my eye.
Next time there will be a bigger show, hope it's better too. More fashion brands, and I like to see some bigger models rocking that catwalk as well.

Hope you enjoy!

#acceptnorules Zizzi bloggers event and show in Copenhagen!

Oh my... where to begin with this? It was so much fun! I'm still trying to land on planet earth as we speak :) Well, let's begin at the beginning...
On friday evening I flew to snowy Copenhagen with the other dutch bloggers Dionne, Nefferth and Edith, checked in at the at the gorgeous Square hotel and ate very fashionably late at Mc Donalds ;)
Saturday began with shopping in THE shopping street of Copenhagen, I think there's no end to this street! My goodness! After that we went to the Zizzi bloggers event located at a very old factory building, I so like those nostalgic buildings. I met other bloggers from Germany and Danmark, the lovely Rikke (Sticky Sweet Danish) and Karina (Copenhagen Curves). It was so great to meet them in person because I follow their blogs every week.
We had the chance to see and feel the fall/winter collection of 2014. So many great peaces we saw in the show as well. The Zizzi designers talked about some of the pieces and what we wanted to see in the future. I had a great talk with Trine, designer by Zizzi, what a lovely woman! She was so passionate about designing, where she got the inspiration, etc.
At the end we went backstage to see the rehearsal of the models and we had the chance to pick stuff from the new collection! Yeah! So many gorgeous things, I picked some great stuff. Outfit posts coming up off course!

Later that evening the show began. What a show! What an energy the models gave us. Seeing Denise Bisot working it, and the dutch models Sharon, Janneke and Tess. They were rocking that catwalk, I'm so proud of them! I loved the styling of the show, very playfully done. The statement of the show was: We except no rules! Curvy fashion free styling! Forget the rules, if you like it wear it! Mix and match whatever you feel like. A statement right up my alley!

After the show we had a great afterparty. All the models joined the party, I met Denise Bidot and made a selfie with her, she's so lovely! And of course we had some lovely cocktails and very much fun at the Photo Booth! I had no feet left when we went back to the hotel, but who cares?  I want to thank Zizzi for making this possible, I loved every minute of it! <3
